"True American" Challenge

Agreement among We, the People (published January 1, 2015) is about We the People of the United States of America, Our Agreement and Our mutual Pledge. In other words, this book is about what it means to be a “true American.” The overall message of Our Agreement is “One for All, All for One”.  Simply stated, this means that each individual member of We, the People has agreed to act for the benefit of all members of We, the People, and all Citizens have agreed to act for the benefit of each individual Citizen.

This is particularly true in the context of Our agreement that “all men are created equal”. Since Our founding, We have been dedicated to the preservation of equality for each new generation. Thus, Our governments’ reason for being is to secure the fulfillment of all human rights for all Citizens. Moreover, all of Our individual and collective lives, fortunes and sacred honor are pledged in support of Our agreements.

This may come as a surprise to many but it should not. Throughout history pharaohs, kings, queens, chiefs, and similar monarchs understood that each possessed control over their kingdom’s collective lives, fortunes and sacred honor in exchange for their ultimate authority based upon this understanding – “One for All, All for One”. Perhaps these words are more easily appreciated: the sovereign monarch serves and protects the people and the people serve and protect the sovereign monarch.

In 1776 Our founders realized that the source of all authority and power ultimately derived from the consent of people who consented to being governed in exchange for becoming part of a society. Consequently, the sovereign of the United States of America is We, the People, as one, united sovereign. From that moment forward, We became a beacon of light for life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and all other human rights for all men and women around the world. As the sovereign of the United States, each member and all members of We, the People have agreed to serve and protect each member and all members of We, the People. In other words, “One for All, All for One”.

Unfortunately, recent research by scholars such as Thomas Piketty, Martin Gilens, BenjaminPage, Dan Ariely, and Michael Norton, and even global corporations such as Citigroup Global Markets, Inc. reports to the general public that things have gone terribly wrong. They report that We are in breach of Our own Agreement.

America remains an economic, military and political giant. But when one looks below the aggregate numbers and other manifestations of power, the reality is very disturbing. For example, who are the primary beneficiaries of the hard work of the vast number of Americans who have contributed to these successes between 1776 and today? How have American resources been distributed? Are Our governments fulfilling their respective reason for existence to secure the fulfillment of all human rights for all Citizens? Are We Citizens fulfilling Our Agreement with one another?

As noted, things have gone terribly wrong! Today, America functions as “All for the 1%, and the 1% for the 1%”. This is the terrifying reality being reported by American and foreign scholars.

If you are familiar with the works of Piketty, Gilens, Page, Ariely, Norton, Citigroup and others, then you already know that America is facing many very serious challenges. Agreement among We, the People endeavors to ask and answer basic questions regarding Our challenges. While this may represent a good start, participation by other Citizens is essential to developing effective solutions.

Agreement among We, the People sets forth specific challenges and suggestions regarding how We might fulfill Our Agreement. It initiates the “true American” challenge: “May all true Americans come to know, understand, appreciate and fulfill our Agreement among We, the People”.
1st – Take the ChallengeBecome a “true American”. Help create a better America for all Americans, the America to which We have already agreed.
2nd – What You can do as a “true American”
You are encouraged to take action in Our efforts to identify, select and reward only leaders who are “true Americans”, as explained in Agreement among We, the People under Challenge: Wanted: “true American” Leaders.  This is of great importance and each of you is encouraged to so act.

There is more you can do.

After you come to know, understand, appreciate and fulfill Our Agreement as “true Americans” and as your exercise of government of, by and for the people, please send your description of the challenges faced by Us together with your suggestions on how best to address them as “true Americans.”

The publisher will attempt to organize and publish that which “true Americans” believe best for the sovereign People of America.

To assist in the formulation of your suggestions on how best to address Our challenges, here is a list of some topics.  Feel free to address one or more of these, or create your own topic.  Remember, the goal is to identify and resolve challenges as “true Americans” in a manner consistent with our Agreement among We the People of the United States of America.

Wanted - "True American" Journalists

Wanted
True American
Journalists

A complimentary copy of Human Rights Capitalism was sent to each of the following individuals.  As one reflects upon the multiplicity of public comment on political action, particularly by those entrusted with the exercise of freedom of speech on behalf of Americans, the question arises:  “As Americans, are political journalists and other commenters on political action seeks to solve the challenges we face as the sovereign (We, the People), or simply engaging in selling their non-substantive rhetoric for personal gain?”  So, the publisher sent each a complimentary copy with this statement (or one that is similar):
To one who often comments on the actions and inactions of the “leaders” of American government as well as the political actions of other Americans, please allow me to say – “May all true Americans (especially those exercising freedom of speech on behalf of Americans) come to know, understand, appreciate, and fulfill our Agreement among We, the People.”  If political action by or in America is not consistent with or in fulfillment of our Agreement among We, the People, then is such political action not Un-American and a breach of our sacred Agreement?  Shouldn’t our Agreement among We, the People always be the touchstone for measuring the worth of any and all American political action?  Isn’t all other comment outside the parameters of such touchstone merely non-substantive rhetoric?
Respectfully,
John F Halbleib

It is unclear whether each will read Human Rights Capitalism or comment on its content.  Given that

(1)  the book is about our Agreement among We, the People,

(2)  each of those receiving a complimentary copy is a member of We, the People (or comments on political action affecting other members), and

(3)  each should be genuinely concerned about solving those challenges facing all Americans,

it would follow that each should read about our Agreement and comment on it.

Let’s see if those who purport to be genuinely concerned about Americans are in fact concerned enough to respond.  This list will be updated periodically as their feedback arises.

If those receiving a complimentary copy do not respond, doesn’t their failure to respond imply that each who fails to respond is simply engaging in selling their non-substantive rhetoric for personal gain?  Does this not also imply that the wellbeing of all Americans is not their concern?  If so, why should Americans buy what they are selling?

Wanted - "True American" Leaders

If you asked “What does it mean to be a “true American?” you would likely get a different answer from each American citizen (which would be more than 300,000,000 different answers).  Moreover, most would not know or understand whether their particular answer was factual or merely their personal opinion.

If you asked “What is the Agreement among We, the People?” you would likely get the following answer – the Constitution of the United States of America.  This would be wrong, because the Constitution is a charter or grant of authority by We, the People to our Federal government to serve We, the People as the Sovereign. The Constitution itself recognizes this when it begins “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union”.  That is, the Union of We, the People already existed.

So, to determine what it means to be a true American you must first come to realize what constitutes the Agreement among We, the People.

If you do not know the answers to these two questions, it becomes impossible (other than by chance) to be a “true American” and to fulfill the Agreement among We, the People.

In fact, the inability of America to solve its own problems is due to the fact that the vast majority of citizen-members of We, the People do not know, understand, appreciate or fulfill our Agreement among We, the People.  This is and should always be the starting point in every inquiry regarding the best solution to American challenges.

In order to start the process of focusing all Americans who genuinely want to be “true Americans” on what this means, the publisher of Human Rights Capitalism has made complimentary copies of the new book Human Rights Capitalism available to iconic individuals in these loosely grouped areas:
There was no common reason why particular individuals were identified and selected.  Rather, each shares a common aspect of American life.  Each of their respective livelihoods revolves around either

(1) exploiting the human condition for their own financial gain (that is, each is profiting from their activity without a genuine intent to assist in the successful resolution of the challenges faced by other Americans which each member of the Sovereign (that is, We, the People) is duty bound genuinely to achieve within the limits of such American’s abilities and resources in fulfillment of their Sacred American Pledge),

(2) devoting themselves to the never ending quest of improving the human condition, or

(3) some combination of the two.

However, the reality is that each of us cannot know precisely why each of them does what he or she does.  Moreover, we cannot know whether what each of them does is intended to improve the human condition for all, or simply exploit mankind for personal gain.  That said, some seem self-evident as for example in the contrast between what one would expect to learn about political activists and religious leaders as contrasted with that which we would expect to learn about political leaders and capitalists.  But the object here is to afford each person an opportunity to comment on whether he or she is a “true American.”

So, each has been provided with a complimentary copy together with a challenge along these lines:
May all true Americans come to
know, understand, appreciate and fulfill
our Agreement among We, the People

The book Human Rights Capitalism explains the origin, nature and confirmation of the Agreement among We, the People, which served as the Agreement around which We, the People formed and grew as a sovereign.

As Americans and citizen-members of We, the People – what can be more important than knowing the answer to this question – To what have all citizen-members of We, the People already agreed?  Is it not absolutely true that we need to know the answer to this question before we seek to solve today’s challenges in a manner consistent with our Agreement?

Any bona fide leader in their respective areas of academia, political activism, capitalism, celebrity, positions of public trust, religion, and/or political journalism should warmly embrace the opportunity to be one of the first to know, understand, appreciate and fulfill our Agreement among We, the People, starting with learning the origin, nature and confirmation of the Agreement among We, the People.  As a member of the sovereign We, the People in the United States of America (its ultimate sovereign), this is part of our responsibility.

If any of these iconic individuals in their respective area feel that they are being singled out and would prefer not to participate, please let the publisher know by clicking here, and your name will be added to the Those Who Opted Out list.  At present, no one has opted out.

If any of these iconic individuals did not receive a complimentary copy (or misplaced it), please click here and request that the publisher send another copy (and provide the best mailing address to which you would like it to be sent).

Lead the Charge – Let them hear your voice.

Inequality and discrimination of all forms revolve around the aggregation of wealth and power at the expense and detriment of human rights.  More than two centuries ago, our forefathers balanced this perpetual struggle to identify and realize human rights through our Agreement among We, the People and each of our personal, supporting Sacred American Pledge.

Human Rights Capitalism documents our Agreement among We, the People, our Sacred American Pledge, and other central terms of our existing agreement among the citizens of our great nation, from our nation’s founding to today.

Listed below (in alphabetical order) are business leaders, political icons vested with public trust, religious leaders, and thought leaders on related subjects. Each manifests a public persona asserting concern for human beings or has responsibilities which mandate that they understand the material contained in Human Rights Capitalism.

As such, the Publisher has sent each of the following individuals complimentary, signed copies of the new book Human Rights Capitalism, America's agreed upon form of Capitalism!. They need not agree with everything contained, but a mere acknowledgement that they have read and understand the book is necessary given their public position requires that each seeks to understand.

Through letters, email, personal conversation, or other means, please encourage each of those listed below to begin down the path of restoring a great America and making America and We, the People sustainable well into the future through fulfillment of our Agreement among We, The People.

You want answers?  Are you asking the right questions?

Speaker of the House John Boehner has threatened to bring a lawsuit alleging that President Barack Obama has failed to carry out his constitutional duty to enforce the law.  John Boehner has said: “This isn’t about Republicans versus Democrats; it’s about the legislative branch versus the executive branch, and above all protecting the Constitution” “The current president believes he has the power to make his own laws — at times even boasting about it.”

If you are focused as Boehner wants you to be, then you are not asking the right question.

If you want to start asking the right questions, become a true AmericanUnderstand, appreciate and fulfill our Agreement among We, the People.  The Constitution and the institutional structure of our Federal Government are, and always have been, subordinate to our Agreement among We, The People.

Human Rights Capitalism - Change in America is already happening, for better and worse. Your beliefs and actions will decide whether our country works in the interest of all Americans, or just the powerful and wealthy. Human Rights Capitalism is the non-partisan statement of the Agreement among We, the People and the Sacred American Pledge that America was founded upon as set forth in the Declaration of Independence by our founding fathers. We must follow it to ensure a strong, unified, and prosperous America. Let us begin to achieve these goals by reading and understanding Human Rights Capitalism.

Young and old, Democrat and Republican, wealthy, working class and poor, there is one thing we all agree on: we want a bright future for America. If not for ourselves, then for our children and loved ones.

However, our once steady optimism about our nation’s future has crumbled into uncertainty and fear. Many of the young struggle to gain employment and are burdened with heavy student loans. Older generations are unsure about whether they’ll have the resources to support themselves in their golden years. Worse, our government no longer seems to be run by or for the interest of the entirety of its citizens. A recently published Princeton study by Gilens and Page shows that policy making in the United States is far more dependent on “the preferences of economic elites” than those of average citizens. These are not temporary trends, and they show no signs of abating on their own.

The above points are made not to cast villains or blame. (Raising our pitchforks will never be the answer). Rather, it is to show that deliberate and directed change must take place, lest we tumble into a further state of division and disarray. Thus, the question that we must ask as citizens today is not, “Must we change?” but, “How must we change?”

There is good news: we already have the answer. In fact, it’s tested, proven, and we have already agreed to it as American citizens. It’s Human Rights Capitalism.

Putting Human Rights Capitalism into practice does not entail a change in our system of government. It doesn’t need a certain political party to be in power. It simply requires us to fulfill our Sacred American Pledge (of our lives, fortunes, and sacred honor), just as every generation prior to us has.

Change will then happen slowly, then suddenly. It is not to be feared, but directed as a means towards building the nation we seek. But to secure the rights and futures of everyone, it must begin with Human Rights Capitalism. By living up to our Sacred American Pledge, we will not crumble as a people divided, but as a nation united in its being and purpose for all of its citizens.

Ultimately, the challenges we face boil down to a single question:  “Are we fulfilling our original promises to each other, as reflected in our original, immortal Agreement among We, the People of America?”  Reading Human Rights Capitalism is the proper starting place to learn the answer.
