Exercise Your Sovereignty!

Each of you is a member of the American royal/sovereign family.

On this date 240 years ago, our founders signed the sole agreement among the sovereign of the United States of America.  A “sovereign” is that which is supreme in power and/or authority.  (Ash, Dictionary of the English Language, 1775)  That is, “A person, body, or state vested with independent and supreme authority.”  (Thomson Reuters; West, a Thomson business; West Publishing Co., 2009)  Our Declaration of Independence – Our Agreement – makes clear that for all purposes regarding the United States of America (e.g., social, political, legal, economic, military, religious, cultural, and etc.) – all sovereignty originates and remains with the citizen-members of We the People of the United States of America as one united people, as one united sovereign.  (United States of America, Continental Congress, 1776)  (Lewis, 1947, p. 224)  (Hale, 1905, p. 14) (Halbleib, MM (MBA), JD, 2014)

As of July 4, 1776, We, the People dissolved all of our dependence upon Great Britain.  Immediately, all charters of government derived from Great Britain were of no legal effect.  Thus, on this day twelve score years ago, all sovereignty and all authority became fully vested in We the People of the United States of America.  Though We have chartered various governments to act on our behalf, We remain the sovereign of this great Nation.

From July 4, 1776, we the people built this great Nation, one day at a time, one community at a time, one state at a time, one business at a time, one family at a time, and so on.

Regardless of the current challenges and political rhetoric of today, the United States of America cannot become a great Nation again without the participation of all members of our sovereign We the People. If you want a better future for America, if you want a better future for yourself and your children, then you have one option – serve effectively as a positive and productive member of We the People.

Your ethnicity, race, age, sex, sexual preference, religion, political leaning, economic standing, state of residence, & etc. are irrelevant – as members of We the People we all share a mutuality of interest in ensuring that all Americans’ human rights are identified, honored and fulfilled.  This is what we promise to each other as members of the greatest sovereign to ever exist!

Each of you is a prince or princess in the American royal family as equal members of We the People.

Exercise your sovereignty!

Overview of His Holiness Pope Francis’ Message to Americans

During his recent visit to the United States, His Holiness Pope Francis emphasized our shared responsibility for greater harmony between that which we view as secular and that which constitutes our humanity.  He persistently reminded all Americans of our fundamental law as members of We the People of the United States of America.

The governing law of our relationship was forged as an agreement among the founding members of We the People (as binding upon them and all future generations) through authority from Nature’s God, our Creator, and the Supreme Judge of the world.  That which is secular derives its existence from humanity, as well as from the Earth’s Creator.  Witness these express acknowledgments in the Declaration of Independence: “the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them”; “they are endowed by their Creator”; “appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world”; and “with the protection of divine Providence”.

Moreover, Pope Francis reminded us that: “truths must constantly be reaffirmed, re-appropriated and defended”.  In support of this he reflected upon the fact that our Nation has constantly had to exercise effort to reaffirm, re-appropriate and defend the truths set forth in our charter as the sovereign of this great Nation.

His Holiness Pope Francis reminded all humans that we are endowed by our Creator with human rights.  His message is that all things have come through the Creator.  Men and woman are part of Creation.  Therefore, all of Creation shares rights through men, women and the Creator.  He acknowledged that this is often beyond scientific study and thus beyond our comprehension.

Thus, Pope Francis described the bigger picture: “The common home of all men and women must continue to rise on the foundations of a right understanding of universal fraternity and respect for the sacredness of every human life, of every man and every woman, the poor, the elderly, children, the infirm, the unborn, the unemployed, the abandoned, those considered disposable because they are only considered as part of a statistic.” “Such understanding and respect call for a higher degree of wisdom, one which accepts transcendence, self-transcendence, rejects the creation of an all-powerful élite, and recognizes that the full meaning of individual and collective life is found in selfless service to others and in the sage and respectful use of creation for the common good.”

Pope Francis focused on the sanctity of men, women and society, frequently referring to human rights, dignity, as well as fraternity.  He also referenced aspects of human dignity which are beyond scientific study and thus beyond our comprehension.  He acknowledged the family as the primary social institution; the foundation upon which we build all others.  He reminded us that the “pursuit of happiness” is through our daily struggle to build a better life for our families.  He reiterated that the identification, honoring and fulfillment of human rights are humanity’s shared responsibilities to one another.  This is that to which American citizens have agreed in our Declaration of Independence, which agreement is supported through our mutual pledge of our lives, fortunes and sacred honor.

Pope Francis expressly referenced portions of the Declaration of Independence and invoked champions of the Declaration of Independence, including Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr. and others. He utilized four Americans to inspire Congress: Abraham Lincoln (liberty), Martin Luther King Jr. (liberty in plurality and non-exclusion), Dorothy Day (social justice and the rights of persons) and Thomas Merton (dialogue and openness to God).  He emphasized “cooperation” and asked that we cooperate “generously for the common good” calling for “a renewal of that spirit of cooperation”.  To Congress he observed: “Politics is . . . an expression of our compelling need to live as one, in order to build as one the greatest common good: that of a community which sacrifices particular interests in order to share, in justice and peace, its goods, its interests, its social life.”  The Declaration of Independence was the first agreement in the United States which expressly mandates such spirit of “cooperation”.

The Constitution derives its authority from We the People, and thus through We the People, likewise from the same Creator.  He emphasized “governments exist to protect and defend” human rights.  Such purpose of governments is expressly mandated by the Declaration of Independence.  As the sovereign of the Vatican City State through his meetings with the President, Congress, and the General Assembly of the United Nations, Pope Francis emphasized the intention of the Creator that there should be greater harmony between that which is viewed as secular and the religious conscious of all.  The government, capitalists and other secular elements of human life and society should honor and respect religious freedom, not suppress it.

Furthermore, Pope Francis noted that the modern, secular enforcement of the First Amendment to the US Constitution is a violation of freedom of religion.  The Establishment Clause must not be utilized to limit the exercise of the human right to religious freedom in the “public square”.  To do so serves to suppress the exercise of religious freedom; it elevates spurious and unconstitutional secular objectives above human rights.  He referenced Moses as an example of a historical, religious person who shared the same purpose as Congress.  He reported that although fulfillment of our promises to each other remains our shared goal, the United States of America, the United Nations, the European Union and many other collective democracies share Judeo-Christian origins, including substantive contributions by Catholics. In mentioning this, his purpose was not to diminish the importance of the free exercise of religious consciousness for all religious belief; rather it was to reiterate the common source of authority humans receive from their Creator, Nature’s God.

He warned us about “today’s widespread and quietly growing ‘culture of waste’.” He reminded us that “The fight against poverty and hunger must be fought constantly and on many fronts, especially in its causes. I know that many Americans today, as in the past, are working to deal with this problem. It goes without saying that part of this great effort is the creation and distribution of wealth.” “To enable these real men and women to escape from extreme poverty, we must allow them to be dignified agents of their own destiny” through “the right to education”, “lodging, labour, and land” as minimums, as well as “spiritual freedom, which includes religious freedom”. He called upon business to create jobs as “an essential part of its service to the common good”.  The Declaration of Independence expressly contemplates the human right to pursue happiness, as well as other human rights.  It also provides: “And for the support of this Declaration . . . we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”

At each and every venue, Pope Francis manifested hope that mankind would embrace the “pursuit of the common good” as the chief aim of politics beginning with “[e]ach son and daughter of a given country [having] a mission, a personal and social responsibility”.  Pope Francis expressed support for capitalism when it serves the common good.  Capitalism is comprised of humans.  When it serves only a fraction of all humans and not the common good, it is not doing its part in our shared responsibilities or obligations as humans to identify, honor and fulfill the human rights of all humans. The founders of We the People of the United States of America fully understood Pope Francis’ concerns regarding unfettered capitalism, markets without real limits, social and economic exclusion, and so on.  America’s founders rejected the notion that the few who possessed extraordinary wealth should rule.  Rather, our founders and early members of We the People entered into an agreement among all Americans that all of our lives, fortunes and sacred honor should serve each member (and all members) of We the People.  In other words, all Americans have already agreed with Pope Francis: “Money must serve, not rule!”   Beginning in 1776 and continuing thereafter, the Agreement among We the People mandates that wealth must serve to fulfill the human rights of all Americans and that the few who have extraordinary wealth shall not rule the many.  The Declaration of Independence evidences all Americans’ agreement to Human Rights Capitalism.

During his recent visit, His Holiness Pope Francis tailored each of his speeches or homilies to his audience.  Nonetheless, Pope Francis emphasized that to which all American citizens have already agreed.   Moreover, Pope Francis reminded us that: “truths must constantly be reaffirmed, re-appropriated and defended” and that throughout our history our Nation has constantly had to exercise effort to reaffirm, re-appropriate and defend the truths set forth in our charter as the sovereign of this great Nation.  Referring to that which is agreed upon in the Declaration of Independent, Pope Francis referred to human rights, the role of government, our mutual pledge and so on as “principles in social and political law”.  In other words, “a governing law of conduct” to which all members of We the People have already agreed.  From Lincoln’s lectern at Independence Hall, Pope Francis called upon each of us to be “responsible citizens”, renewing “society from within.”

Pope Francis’ messages are memorialized in the Declaration of Independence.  From the lectern used by Lincoln when he delivered his Gettysburg Address, Pope Francis’ final message is for America to lead as it once did by honoring its original and continuing Agreement.  In other words, he has challenged America (and its citizens) to once again serve as a world leader based upon our Declaration of Independence.

Pope Francis encourages us to utilize our elders “who are a storehouse of wisdom forged by experience”, “they keep working to build up this land.”

"True American" Challenge

Agreement among We, the People (published January 1, 2015) is about We the People of the United States of America, Our Agreement and Our mutual Pledge. In other words, this book is about what it means to be a “true American.” The overall message of Our Agreement is “One for All, All for One”.  Simply stated, this means that each individual member of We, the People has agreed to act for the benefit of all members of We, the People, and all Citizens have agreed to act for the benefit of each individual Citizen.

This is particularly true in the context of Our agreement that “all men are created equal”. Since Our founding, We have been dedicated to the preservation of equality for each new generation. Thus, Our governments’ reason for being is to secure the fulfillment of all human rights for all Citizens. Moreover, all of Our individual and collective lives, fortunes and sacred honor are pledged in support of Our agreements.

This may come as a surprise to many but it should not. Throughout history pharaohs, kings, queens, chiefs, and similar monarchs understood that each possessed control over their kingdom’s collective lives, fortunes and sacred honor in exchange for their ultimate authority based upon this understanding – “One for All, All for One”. Perhaps these words are more easily appreciated: the sovereign monarch serves and protects the people and the people serve and protect the sovereign monarch.

In 1776 Our founders realized that the source of all authority and power ultimately derived from the consent of people who consented to being governed in exchange for becoming part of a society. Consequently, the sovereign of the United States of America is We, the People, as one, united sovereign. From that moment forward, We became a beacon of light for life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and all other human rights for all men and women around the world. As the sovereign of the United States, each member and all members of We, the People have agreed to serve and protect each member and all members of We, the People. In other words, “One for All, All for One”.

Unfortunately, recent research by scholars such as Thomas Piketty, Martin Gilens, BenjaminPage, Dan Ariely, and Michael Norton, and even global corporations such as Citigroup Global Markets, Inc. reports to the general public that things have gone terribly wrong. They report that We are in breach of Our own Agreement.

America remains an economic, military and political giant. But when one looks below the aggregate numbers and other manifestations of power, the reality is very disturbing. For example, who are the primary beneficiaries of the hard work of the vast number of Americans who have contributed to these successes between 1776 and today? How have American resources been distributed? Are Our governments fulfilling their respective reason for existence to secure the fulfillment of all human rights for all Citizens? Are We Citizens fulfilling Our Agreement with one another?

As noted, things have gone terribly wrong! Today, America functions as “All for the 1%, and the 1% for the 1%”. This is the terrifying reality being reported by American and foreign scholars.

If you are familiar with the works of Piketty, Gilens, Page, Ariely, Norton, Citigroup and others, then you already know that America is facing many very serious challenges. Agreement among We, the People endeavors to ask and answer basic questions regarding Our challenges. While this may represent a good start, participation by other Citizens is essential to developing effective solutions.

Agreement among We, the People sets forth specific challenges and suggestions regarding how We might fulfill Our Agreement. It initiates the “true American” challenge: “May all true Americans come to know, understand, appreciate and fulfill our Agreement among We, the People”.
1st – Take the ChallengeBecome a “true American”. Help create a better America for all Americans, the America to which We have already agreed.
2nd – What You can do as a “true American”
You are encouraged to take action in Our efforts to identify, select and reward only leaders who are “true Americans”, as explained in Agreement among We, the People under Challenge: Wanted: “true American” Leaders.  This is of great importance and each of you is encouraged to so act.

There is more you can do.

After you come to know, understand, appreciate and fulfill Our Agreement as “true Americans” and as your exercise of government of, by and for the people, please send your description of the challenges faced by Us together with your suggestions on how best to address them as “true Americans.”

The publisher will attempt to organize and publish that which “true Americans” believe best for the sovereign People of America.

To assist in the formulation of your suggestions on how best to address Our challenges, here is a list of some topics.  Feel free to address one or more of these, or create your own topic.  Remember, the goal is to identify and resolve challenges as “true Americans” in a manner consistent with our Agreement among We the People of the United States of America.

Wanted - "True American" Journalists

Wanted
True American
Journalists

A complimentary copy of Human Rights Capitalism was sent to each of the following individuals.  As one reflects upon the multiplicity of public comment on political action, particularly by those entrusted with the exercise of freedom of speech on behalf of Americans, the question arises:  “As Americans, are political journalists and other commenters on political action seeks to solve the challenges we face as the sovereign (We, the People), or simply engaging in selling their non-substantive rhetoric for personal gain?”  So, the publisher sent each a complimentary copy with this statement (or one that is similar):
To one who often comments on the actions and inactions of the “leaders” of American government as well as the political actions of other Americans, please allow me to say – “May all true Americans (especially those exercising freedom of speech on behalf of Americans) come to know, understand, appreciate, and fulfill our Agreement among We, the People.”  If political action by or in America is not consistent with or in fulfillment of our Agreement among We, the People, then is such political action not Un-American and a breach of our sacred Agreement?  Shouldn’t our Agreement among We, the People always be the touchstone for measuring the worth of any and all American political action?  Isn’t all other comment outside the parameters of such touchstone merely non-substantive rhetoric?
Respectfully,
John F Halbleib

It is unclear whether each will read Human Rights Capitalism or comment on its content.  Given that

(1)  the book is about our Agreement among We, the People,

(2)  each of those receiving a complimentary copy is a member of We, the People (or comments on political action affecting other members), and

(3)  each should be genuinely concerned about solving those challenges facing all Americans,

it would follow that each should read about our Agreement and comment on it.

Let’s see if those who purport to be genuinely concerned about Americans are in fact concerned enough to respond.  This list will be updated periodically as their feedback arises.

If those receiving a complimentary copy do not respond, doesn’t their failure to respond imply that each who fails to respond is simply engaging in selling their non-substantive rhetoric for personal gain?  Does this not also imply that the wellbeing of all Americans is not their concern?  If so, why should Americans buy what they are selling?

Wanted - "True American" Leaders

If you asked “What does it mean to be a “true American?” you would likely get a different answer from each American citizen (which would be more than 300,000,000 different answers).  Moreover, most would not know or understand whether their particular answer was factual or merely their personal opinion.

If you asked “What is the Agreement among We, the People?” you would likely get the following answer – the Constitution of the United States of America.  This would be wrong, because the Constitution is a charter or grant of authority by We, the People to our Federal government to serve We, the People as the Sovereign. The Constitution itself recognizes this when it begins “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union”.  That is, the Union of We, the People already existed.

So, to determine what it means to be a true American you must first come to realize what constitutes the Agreement among We, the People.

If you do not know the answers to these two questions, it becomes impossible (other than by chance) to be a “true American” and to fulfill the Agreement among We, the People.

In fact, the inability of America to solve its own problems is due to the fact that the vast majority of citizen-members of We, the People do not know, understand, appreciate or fulfill our Agreement among We, the People.  This is and should always be the starting point in every inquiry regarding the best solution to American challenges.

In order to start the process of focusing all Americans who genuinely want to be “true Americans” on what this means, the publisher of Human Rights Capitalism has made complimentary copies of the new book Human Rights Capitalism available to iconic individuals in these loosely grouped areas:
There was no common reason why particular individuals were identified and selected.  Rather, each shares a common aspect of American life.  Each of their respective livelihoods revolves around either

(1) exploiting the human condition for their own financial gain (that is, each is profiting from their activity without a genuine intent to assist in the successful resolution of the challenges faced by other Americans which each member of the Sovereign (that is, We, the People) is duty bound genuinely to achieve within the limits of such American’s abilities and resources in fulfillment of their Sacred American Pledge),

(2) devoting themselves to the never ending quest of improving the human condition, or

(3) some combination of the two.

However, the reality is that each of us cannot know precisely why each of them does what he or she does.  Moreover, we cannot know whether what each of them does is intended to improve the human condition for all, or simply exploit mankind for personal gain.  That said, some seem self-evident as for example in the contrast between what one would expect to learn about political activists and religious leaders as contrasted with that which we would expect to learn about political leaders and capitalists.  But the object here is to afford each person an opportunity to comment on whether he or she is a “true American.”

So, each has been provided with a complimentary copy together with a challenge along these lines:
May all true Americans come to
know, understand, appreciate and fulfill
our Agreement among We, the People

The book Human Rights Capitalism explains the origin, nature and confirmation of the Agreement among We, the People, which served as the Agreement around which We, the People formed and grew as a sovereign.

As Americans and citizen-members of We, the People – what can be more important than knowing the answer to this question – To what have all citizen-members of We, the People already agreed?  Is it not absolutely true that we need to know the answer to this question before we seek to solve today’s challenges in a manner consistent with our Agreement?

Any bona fide leader in their respective areas of academia, political activism, capitalism, celebrity, positions of public trust, religion, and/or political journalism should warmly embrace the opportunity to be one of the first to know, understand, appreciate and fulfill our Agreement among We, the People, starting with learning the origin, nature and confirmation of the Agreement among We, the People.  As a member of the sovereign We, the People in the United States of America (its ultimate sovereign), this is part of our responsibility.

If any of these iconic individuals in their respective area feel that they are being singled out and would prefer not to participate, please let the publisher know by clicking here, and your name will be added to the Those Who Opted Out list.  At present, no one has opted out.

If any of these iconic individuals did not receive a complimentary copy (or misplaced it), please click here and request that the publisher send another copy (and provide the best mailing address to which you would like it to be sent).

Lead the Charge – Let them hear your voice.

Inequality and discrimination of all forms revolve around the aggregation of wealth and power at the expense and detriment of human rights.  More than two centuries ago, our forefathers balanced this perpetual struggle to identify and realize human rights through our Agreement among We, the People and each of our personal, supporting Sacred American Pledge.

Human Rights Capitalism documents our Agreement among We, the People, our Sacred American Pledge, and other central terms of our existing agreement among the citizens of our great nation, from our nation’s founding to today.

Listed below (in alphabetical order) are business leaders, political icons vested with public trust, religious leaders, and thought leaders on related subjects. Each manifests a public persona asserting concern for human beings or has responsibilities which mandate that they understand the material contained in Human Rights Capitalism.

As such, the Publisher has sent each of the following individuals complimentary, signed copies of the new book Human Rights Capitalism, America's agreed upon form of Capitalism!. They need not agree with everything contained, but a mere acknowledgement that they have read and understand the book is necessary given their public position requires that each seeks to understand.

Through letters, email, personal conversation, or other means, please encourage each of those listed below to begin down the path of restoring a great America and making America and We, the People sustainable well into the future through fulfillment of our Agreement among We, The People.
